Chopin – Raindrop Prelude (Classical Piano)

There is little technical difficulty in this prelude; the interpretive aspect, however, can be quite a challenge. Chopin spent a lot of time listening to the repetitive dripping of the rain, which inspired Ab’s repetitive note throughout the piece. I hope you enjoy it and have a beautiful rainy day.

F. Chopin – Prelude “Raindrop” in D flat Major, Op.28 No.15

“You say that you love rain, but you open your umbrella when it rains.

You say that you love the sun, but you find a shadow spot when the sun shines.

You say that you love the wind, but you close your windows when wind blows.

This is why I am afraid, you say that you love me too.” ― William Shakespeare

The poem attributed to William Shakespeare under Chopin’s Prelude No. 15 is NOT by Shakespeare. It is a Turkish poem called “Korkuyoram” or “I Am Afraid” by Qyzzirah Syeikh Ariffin. How this could ever be connected to Shakespeare is a mystery, there were no umbrellas in England in Shakespeare’s time. It is a pity to atttach something fake and banal to such a beautiful piece of music by the incomparable Frederic Chopin.
