Chopin or Liszt

Chopin – Ballade No. 1 in G Minor

Frédéric Chopin’s Ballade No. 1 in G minor op 23 is one of the most beautiful and inspiring pieces in the entire classical solo piano repertoire. In recent times this work has become even more popular due to its great exposure in the film The Pianist by Roman Polanski. In the most striking scene in the film, actor Adrien Brody plays Chopin’s beautiful play. Watch pianist Olga Scheps play this beautiful piano piece.

Liszt – Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2

Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 is surely Liszt’s most popular composition for its use in many cartoons and television programs. This imposing solo piano piece was inspired by the Czardas of Hungarian folklore, see below the Performance of the young pianist Tiffany Poon.
